
ABOUT
Olivia Martinez is a horn player who displays professionalism in any situation. Whether performing music or running a marathon, she enjoys the process of creating something excellent, especially while working with others.
Olivia has performed across the world, including China, Vienna's Musikverein, the Estates Theater in Prague, Carnegie Hall, and the Kennedy Center. She won the Marie Speziale Orchestra Mock Audition at the 2022 International Women’s Brass Conference. In April 2024, Olivia joined the West Point Band as Second Horn. She has performed with many ensembles, including Celtic Woman, the Philly Pops, Bay Atlantic Symphony, Symphony in C, Hawai'i Symphony Orchestra, Albany Symphony Orchestra, Bozeman Symphony, Curtis Symphony Orchestra, the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic, Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra, and the Wayne Oratorio Society.
Olivia is passionate about teaching and helps students to think critically and enjoy learning. She is committed to equity and is a Performing Member of the Chromatic Brass Collective, which seeks to increase the visibility of women and non-binary musicians of color.
Olivia wears many hats- playing jazz, natural horn, and new music. She has competed at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition twice, winning the American Brass Quintet Prize and making Semifinals with two separate groups. Her current quintet Amo Brass has toured California, Connecticut, New York, and Indiana, where they perform and teach at schools. Amo Brass was also a Finalist at the 2023 Plowman Chamber Competition and won Honorable Mention.
Olivia is pursuing a Doctorate in Musical Arts at Temple University. She earned her Master's in Music at Yale University and Bachelor's in Music at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Her teachers include Randy Gardner, William Purvis, Richard Seraphinoff, Dale Clevenger, Jeff Nelsen, Wolfgang Vladar, William Browne, and Jim Deal.
On any given day, you might find Olivia fawning over dogs, experimenting with sourdough, or enjoying nature.
